Where Im From Poem

I am from sketchbooks,

from prismas and pencils.

I am from the house at the end of the cul-de-sac (small, spacious and full of childhood memories).

I am from the rose garden, red roses, whose thorns would scratch me when trying to get the ball out of it.
I am from putting up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving and independency,

from Gloria and Sanchez and Ramiro.

I am from the family that always helps people around us who dont have what we have and from the family who always shows their appreciation.

From not giving up on anything I set my mind to and always be positive no matter what happens.

I am from the Catholic community.

I'm from Houston, Texas and Herman Sanchez, a cross and futbol.

From the time when my grandpa went to go try to shoot a lizard with a slingshot and my mom accidentally getting hot form the ricochet, the when my brother and I would try to buy my moms presents behind her back but somehow still finding out what we were up to.

I am from photo albums, a truevalue plastic container, full of cherishing moments from my moms childhood to brother and I’s childhood.

Just Because Poem

Just because I’m Hispanic
Doesn’t mean I mow yards
Doesn’t mean all I eat is tacos
Doesn’t mean Taco Bell is legitimately from Mexico
And doesn’t mean I have a Chihuahua as a pet
Just because I’m Hispanic
Doesn’t mean I listen to “ranchero” music
Doesn’t mean I have an accent when I speak
Just because I’m Hispanic
Doesn’t mean I work for the drug cartel
Doesn’t mean I’m illegal
Doesn’t mean anytime that a Hispanic gets in trouble with the law every other Hispanic should get blamed for mistakes
Just because I’m Hispanic
Why do people think all Hispanics are from Mexico?
Why do people think I should be really good swimming?
Why do people care so much about the color of other people’s skin?

We all are children of God.
